Lost Lake

You can find the soul Of Mount Hood's beauty and Wild Life at Lost Lake. Photographers praise Lost Lake for its unbelievable vistas while others such as "Birders" and "Twichers" gather to see high elevation birds pass by and of course the natural history-lovers relax in old growth forest and wild flowers.

In addition to the above Lost Lake is home to critters such as Newts and Salamanders that depends on the old-growth forest then theirs the cavity-nesting birds, mammals like pine martens and native bats. The high elevation and diverse habitats provide both excellent wildlife habitat and viewing opportunities.

The scenic loop around Lost Lake is Perhaps the best family hike for young children.  The route is nearly level while some areas you will encountered rocks, roots and some hazards. There are numerous places along the trail were you could soak your tiresome feet, take a swim or perhaps try catching a Newt or a Salamander.  Better yet, there are excellent camp-sites at the lake, though in high demand during the summer months and camp-sites are on first come basis. On a finale note you could rent paddler boats, aluminium boats and canoes or bring your own.

 * No motorized boats allowed at all.
 * There is a $7.00 per vehicle fee.
